DESCRIPTION
Provides students studying journalism and information systems with an introduction to basic legal concepts and an overview of the major legal issues in their respective disciplines. Topics include: the Australian legal system; basic common law and legislative principles; the balance between freedom of speech, defamation, censorship and privacy; intellectual property law; regulation of electronic commerce; and court reporting and contempt law.
