About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION

Students will be introduced to concepts and techniques necessary for the effective organisation, manipulation (including efficient query and update), and analysis of shared data. Students will learn how to apply these concepts with an emphasis on relational databases. XML and SQL are introduced as commonly used languages to manage data. Database management approaches and functions are covered as well as some introductory database administration.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: In-semester assessment (30%), one 3-hour final examination (70%)

TEACHING PATTERN: 3 hours of lectures weekly (or equivalent), 1 hour tutorial weekly
