The unit involves a design project in electrical power engineering, which may involve research and development work, engineering design, literature survey, experimental or theoretical work, computational studies, simulation and implementation. Students may be shown methods of operational planning and control, and the impact of quality systems on design and manufacturing processes. The latter includes the application of engineering standards, tolerance problems and reliability.
