The unit is intended for engineering students from all disciplines. The unit gives an introduction to expert systems, knowledge representation, dealing with uncertainty and expert system tools. Students are given a comprehensive background in building rule-based expert systems. The unit also presents fuzzy set theory, considers how to build fuzzy systems and illustrates the theory through examples.
