About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION
Familiarises students with steel and timber materials technology, and the analysis and design of steel and timber structures. Students are introduced to the Australian Standards for Structural Design. There is a large design project, supported by weekly tutorial exercises, that explore detailed engineering requirements of structure, frame and element design. Students are also expected to use computer-aided design facilities and structural analysis applications for documentation of projects.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: continuous assessment of project and tutorial work (50%), end-of-sem exam (50%)

TEACHING PATTERN: 2 lectures, 2 tutorials, 1 hr prac weekly, 13 weeks
