DESCRIPTION

Extension of the themes introduced in KMA153 by examination of problems involving several treatments or several explanatory variables. The unit covers properties of designs and tests; regression; multiple comparisons and analysis of variance; and an introduction to principles of statistical modelling. Students are expected to use and interpret the output of a contemporary statistical package, appreciate some problems of real data from observational studies and carry out analyses and write reports directed towards the concerns of a given experiment or study.

ASSESSMENT: assignments and class tests

TEACHING PATTERN: 2x1-hr lectures, 1-hr tutorial, 2x1-hr lab sessions weekly
