This unit aims to provide an overview of the most commonly encountered behavioural, emotional, social, developmental and health-related childhood and adolescent clinical disorders. Topics may include attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, anxiety and mood disorders, learning and intellectual disorders, autism and childhood-onset schizophrenia. An evidence-based practice approach will be used to examine current diagnostic, assessment and treatment issues. Particular attention will be given to the need for developmental and cultural sensitivity in clinical practice.

ASSESSMENT: 2,000 word written assignment (40%), 2-hr exam (60%)
