DESCRIPTION Studies the development, organisation and content of mental disorders. In general an experimental-clinical approach is taken, and intern psychologists are expected to become familiar with current research in the area. Consideration will be given to the diagnostic features of specific disorders, prevalence, course, aetiological knowledge and theories, familial, social and cultural features, and differential diagnostic issues. Clinical case study material is used as appropriate and intern psychologists are required to be familiar with the DSM-IV and ICD-10 classificatory systems as they apply to the practice of clinical psychology. This will involve a critical consideration of these classificatory systems.
