This unit focuses on the use of assessment techniques in the counselling and rehabilitation counselling setting. Students will learn the principles of assessment and gain knowledge in test selection and test use. Skill development forms the major focus of this unit, with teaching balancing theory and practice. Classes will alternate between theoretical learning and skill development role plays. Topicswill include assessment of pain and pain behaviours, assessment of stress and coping skills, assessment of psychological symptoms, and students will be introduced to the area of ability testing.
