DESCRIPTION

This unit is a Graduate Diploma/Masters level elective common to both the Counselling and Rehabilitation Counselling streams. In this unit students will explore in detail the principles of case management and the process of counselling. Students will develop practical case management skills and will practice the entire counselling process through intensive in class role plays. Role plays will simulate the case management and counselling process from assessment through to case closure. Students will also learn and practice skills associated with file keeping, case presentation and corresponding to stake holders in the case management and counselling process. This unit will prepare students for field placement and employment within the field of counselling and rehabilitation counselling.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Case presentations (20%), Assessment report (30%), Closure report (30%), Note keeping (20%)

TEACHING PATTERN: One 4-hr seminar weekly
