Research methods lectures extend studies in experimental design and analysis to the use of analysis of variance, planned and post hoc comparisons, analysis of interactions, and repeated measures designs. Students are also introduced to regression and trend analysis, two factor non-orthogonal designs, three factor, multivariate and repeated measures analysis of variance, and analysis of covariance. In laboratory classes students further develop skills in the design of experiments, data analysis and interpretation, and the use of statistical packages for analysis of variance, and presentation of results in a written form. The unit aims to assist students develop the knowledge and skills required to select the appropriate statistics for the analysis of common experiemental designs in psychology, and to conduct and critically interpret the results of such analyses.

ASSESSMENT: 2-hr examination (50%), weekly data analysis and other exercises (25%) practicaltest (25%).
