About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION

Comprises two lecture streams focusing on specific issues in educational psychology. The first stream covers a range of theories and concepts from cognitive, behaviourist and humanist psychology. These perspectives will be examined in relation to their relevance and application to the learning process and learning environment. The second set of lectures focus on the motivational bases of student achievement and examine concepts such as self-esteem, self-handicapping, self-worth protection and perfectionism, and their relationship to educational achievement.

The practical programme will provide an opportunity for students to explore concepts of learning environments, behaviour management, and developing learning programmes for specific problems, as well as engage in a small empirical study related to achievement motivation and the demonstration of advanced research skills.
