DESCRIPTION
This unit comprises two lecture streams. The first stream examines criminological issues including the causes and manifestations of criminal behaviours, the criminal justice system, and the psychological processes associated with eyewitness testimony, juries and jury selection. The second steam introduces issues in forensic psychology, with a particular focus on the role of the psychologist in areas such as expert testimony, forensic psychology practice, and expert assistance provided to the court.
In the laboratory component students are introduced to research in areas such as juror deliberation,eye-witnesstestimony, psychological autopsyand cognitive interviews.

ASSESSMENT: 2-hr exam (50%), assignments totalling 2,500 words (50%)
TEACHING PATTERN: One 2-hr lecture and one2-hr lab class weekly (13 wks)
