DESCRIPTION

This unit provides an advanced coverage of the area of human cognition and memory. Human cognitive psychology is concerned with how the mind acquires, represents, and processes information. The lectures focus on fundamental theories, concepts, and empirical findings in the field of cognitive psychology. Topics covered include visual perception, attention, memory, language, and thinking and reasoning.


In laboratory classes students will work in groups to design and conduct experiments investigating aspects of cognition and memory.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: 2-hr exam in Nov (50%), assignments totalling 3,000 words (50%)

TEACHING PATTERN: 2x1-hr lectures, 2-hr lab class weekly (13 weeks)
