An essential unit for those wishing to have a career managing natural environments and a way to learn about Australia's natural vegetation for those with other vocational interests. This unit develops an understanding of factors relevant to the conservation management of Australian natural vegetation and threatened plant species, and trains students in the formulation of vegetation management plans. Field work is used to familiarise students with the management problems of local vegetation types and to collect data relevant to the formulation of a vegetation management plan.

ASSESSMENT: 2-hr exam (50%), a 1500-word field-based management plan (30%), practical/field assessment (20%)
TEACHING PATTERN:
8 days, including 26-hrs of lectures, 12-hrs practicals and 3 days fieldwork

25% Level 200 KGA or 25% Level 200 in any science or management discipline with Degree Coordinator approval on Unit Coordinator recommendation.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus.
