About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION

This unit comprises a one-semester geographical or environmental research project. The aim of the unit is to provide students with research experience and skills in an area of their own choosing. Project design, data collection, data management and data presentation skills will be developed. The unit will involve an average of 10 hours per week planning and completing an individual research project, closely supervised by a staff member of the School of Geography and Environmental Studies. Students do not need to have well developed ideas before beginning discussions. Students can undertake this unit in either semester, but it must completed within that semester. Students must communicate with the unit co-ordinator and have a supervisor before their enrolment can be confirmed.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT:

  • Major paper (85%)
  • Research journal (15%)

TEACHING PATTERN: Approximately 130 hrs of supervised research
