DESCRIPTION

Examines issues relevant to the understanding of the geography of contemporary Asia. Topics such as population pressure and policies, environmental change and degradation, economic growth in urban and rural areas, and the problems produced by modernisation and development are considered using different areas as case studies. Emphasis is placed on assessing the complex linkages between human activity and the physical environment through problems involving the management and mismanagement of climatic, hydrological and earth resources.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: 2-hr exam (50%), 3,000-word essay (40%), tutorials (10%)

2x1-hour lectures weekly, 9x1-hour tutorials
