About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION

This foundation unit in Geography and Environmental Studies provides a bridge between the physical and social sciences. You will develop knowledge of how environments and societies change at a global scale through the study of earth evolution, human development and their interactions. In our increasingly global lives, this knowledge is vital to responding to many important issues. You will study climate change, population growth, inequality, conflict, food security and natural hazards. Interactive workshops explore global geographies through mapping skills, fieldwork, group projects, scenario building and class debates. The knowledge and skills gained from this unit are applied in a wide variety of professions including environmental management, social policy and planning, international development and nature conservation. Students wishing to do second and third year units in Geography and Environmental Studies should also take KGA172 Space, Place and Nature.
