About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION
This unit focuses on building envelope design and performance, and regulatory compliance. The skin of a building can define its energy use, constructability, durability and the design concept. This unit studies the performance and regulatory requirements of envelopes, their typical materials and systems, and the required secondary structure. Decision-making is supported through thermal assessment of the envelope and modelling of facade components for regulatory compliance. Service strategies are also explored. The impact of regulations on the design and detailing is investigated, particularly in relation to insulation and energy use. The unit emphasises the integration of design and technology.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT:

Three assignments weighted at 30%, 30% and 40% respectively.
