About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION
This unit examines the history and theory of architecture, interior design, furniture design and garden design in the western tradition in the modern era. Through the study of significant historical developments and exemplars, the unit aims to develop a richly informed approach to contemporary design.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Essay with interim class presentation (25% + 10%), analytical drawing and/or model-making assignment (30%) and visual test (35%).
Students outside BEnvDes may choose to submit another essay in place of the analytical drawing/modelling assignment.

TEACHING PATTERN: Two hour lecture per week (13 weeks).
Two hour tutorial or seminar per week (13 weeks).
