Introduces students to the dynamics that shape environmental policy in contemporary Australia and to aspects of environmental policy. The relationship between capitalism and environmental protection is considered in the context of recent disputes between economic and environmental concerns. The role and capacities of the state in relation to environmental policy are considered, and the pattern of Australian environmental policy is examined through case studies.
