About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION

Introduces the politics of ethnicity and race. After a study of some relevant concepts, paradigms and theories, the unit will examine a range of situations of ethnic and race politics drawn from such countries as Sri Lanka, Canada, Belgium, South Africa, and some supra-national movements and a range of policy options.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: 200 level: 2,500-word essay (40%), tutorial participation and report (10%), 2-hr end-of-sem exam (50%)
300 level: 3,000-word essay (40%), tutorial participation and report (10%), 2-hr end-of-sem exam (50%)

TEACHING PATTERN: Int: 2-hr lecture weekly, 1 tutorial fortnightly;
Dist. Ed: web-based delivery of 13 lectures, 1 online tutorial discussion fortnightly
