DESCRIPTION

Introduces and explores contemporary theories of cultural expression such as post-modernism, post-colonialism, globalisation and the resurgence of local identity, feminism and ecocriticism, and suggest ways they might be applied to the contexts of Southeast Asia, China and Japan.

WEIGHT:  25%

ASSESSMENT: fortnightly papers (total 4,000 words) (60%), final 3,000-word essay (40%)

TEACHING PATTERN: 2 hrs weekly
