DESCRIPTION

Students will explore how new communications technology presents different ways of practising journalism. Students research and analyse using the web, produce online journalistic content, and learn basic webpage design. While some basic technical skills, such as digital photography and Dreamweaver, are taught, the main emphasis is on a conceptual framework for journalists operating in the online environment.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT:

2000-word essay (30%), 500-word pitch (10%), journalistic contributions to website (60%)

TEACHING PATTERN: 5 contact hrs fortnightly
