DESCRIPTION

This unit introduces students to both the theory and practice of news production and on-camera news reporting. Students will learn such skills as television news scripting, camera presentation, news reading and interviewing techniques, together with theories of address and programming and an understanding of how audiences make meaning. Technical skills taught include camera work, sound, lighting, and program editing as well as instruction in how to write for television.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Internal assessment, 3000 word equiv (60%), final assessment, based on production of a television news assignment (40%).

5 contact hours fortnightly
