Examines the development of musical skills, knowledge and understanding in beginning students (up to 5 years of tuition) through the study of syllabus prescriptions in a commonly used graded examination system (AMEB or Trinity College). Students will study syllabuses for their own instruments. Lectures will focus on examining the technical work and repertoire requirements for each stage, identifying the learning challenges and discuss appropriate teaching strategies to assist student mastery of the challenges.
