Due to restriction on available placements a quota will apply to this unit. In order to commence workplace learning outside of the University of Tasmania (including clinical placements and visits) students are required to demonstrate compliance with the Faculty of Health Science and School of Human Life Sciences policies relevant to workplace based learning. These include the Police Check Policy and Procedures, Infectious Disease Policy, Code of Conduct and Student Placement Agreement. Students who do not comply with these policies will not be placed or will be removed from placements and therefore will not be able to complete this unit. Students who have not complied or are unsure of the policies should seek guidance from the School.

DESCRIPTION
The Practicum in Exercise Science II is an elective unit in the Bachelor of Exercise Science program. This unit is designed to extend the student's experience in the Exercise Science industry by enabling them to work in an environment that deals with physical activity assessment and programming for patients with chronic and complex diseases or for patients requiring musculo-skeletal rehabilitation. The main purposes of this unit are:
a) to provide students with 150 hours work experience within the health industry dealing with medically diagnosed patients that can benefit from increased levels of physical activity, and
b) to provide extra hours of practical experience to assist students to apply for accreditation as a practicing Exercise Physiologist with the professional organisation Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
