Current first aid and CPR normally required. Police check required if practicum involves minors. A quota applies to this unit. In order to commence workplace learning outside of the University of Tasmania (including clinical placements and visits) students are required to demonstrate compliance with the Faculty of Health Science and School of Human Life Sciences policies relevant to workplace based learning. These include the Police Check Policy and Procedures, Infectious Disease Policy, Code of Conduct and Student Placement Agreement. Students who do not comply with these policies will not be placed or will be removed from placements and therefore will not be able to complete this unit. Students who have not complied or are unsure of the policies should seek guidance from the School.

The Practicum in Exercise Science is a core unit in the Bachelor of Exercise Science program. This unit is designed to make students aware of the requirements of the Exercise Science industry and the working environment of various organisations in which they may wish to seek employment. The unit is designed to link and complement the student's program of study by introducing them to the work environment. The main purposes of this unit are:
a) to provide students with work experience within the industry they may seek to be employed
b) to introduce students to various topics concerning the work environment, and
c) to facilitate career planning.

ASSESSMENT: Final report from Student, which includes a Site Project, Student LogBook & Reflections; plus Supervisor report (100%)
