DESCRIPTION

This unit introduces students to the Health Care System in Australia and the role of the system in chronic disease management. This includes consideration and the purpose of health services and the contribution of a range of health care professionals, multi-disciplinary team work, service funding and management. The unit also introduces students to the way in which new information and communication technologies could improve health services; the principles and examples of evidence based health care, and quality assurance.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Assignment 1 (2000 words) (35%), Assignment2 (3000 words) (50%), Plus on-Line discussion (500 words) (15%).

TEACHING PATTERN: This unit is taught by distance. On-line material readings will be provided via MyLO. Students will communicate with the coordinator via email and discussion boards.
