This unit develops the student's understandings of land use planning, environmental management and protection, waste management, soil science and site assessments. The unit also considers various forms of Environmental Reports and Environmental Management Systems, including relevant State and Federal legislation. There will be a one day off-campus field practical sessions during semester and a 2 hour on-campus "Q & A" Session with experts from local government, state government and consultancy.

ASSESSMENT:
Weekly submission of on-line self-assessment questions (10%); Land use planning proposal (800 words) (10%); Environmental Impact Assessment Report (1500 words) (20%); Field trip assessment report (1500 words) (20%); Final exam two (2) hours (40%).
TEACHING PATTERN:
This unit is taught by distance. Students will communicate with the Lecturer and other students by email and through MyLO discussion boards. On-Campus:2-hr "Q & A" session with experts from local government, state government and consultancy. Off-Campus Practical: 1 full day field trip.
