DESCRIPTION

This unit develops the student's understanding of the role and importance of public health, the influence of community functions and the interaction with environmental health. It also develops the student's skills in interviewing, advocacy, health promotion, conflict resolution and report writing.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT:

Group work: Report 1 (2000 words) (25%). Individual assessment items: Report 2 (2000 words) (30%); mid semester test (25%); community project (20%).

TEACHING PATTERN: 1-hr tutorial/seminar + 1-hr tutorial (6 weeks), group work and self-directed learning.
