About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION

This unit provides an overview of the concepts of health promotion and its rationale. It considers the modes of health promotion, using food, nutrition, exercise and environmental health as examples. Students will encounter what drives policy decisions, along with planning, evaluation and communication techniques of program design. The unit also introduces students to the various organizations that have a role in health promotion.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT:

Group work: Preliminary plan & needs assessment (2000 words) (20%);Final plan (3500 words) (35%). Individual assessment items: on-line quiz (25%); Scrapbook & reflection (1000 words) (10%); Project resource (10%).

TEACHING PATTERN: 2-hour seminar (7 weeks), 2 x 1-hr tutorials, on-line tutorials and activities.
