DESCRIPTION

This subject introduces the fundamental principles of medical image production using x-rays. Covers the principles of the production of the x-ray beam for diagnostic radiography, the attenuation of the x-ray beam and the production of the observable image. The factors that determine the properties of a diagnostic image for different procedures is the focus of the unit, with practical experience in the hospital environment.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Mid session test (20%), Practical Reports (30%) and Final exam (50%)

TEACHING PATTERN: 4- hrs lectures, 2-hrs tutorials/practicals
