This unit supports students' ability to critically appraise attitudes to ageing and aged care in Australia and to engage in independent inquiry and reflection. Students gain an understanding of the lived experiences of elderly people able to live independently or with some community support through conversations, stories and literature. Issues concerning the health and well-being of the aged in Australia are explored through critical insights into contemporary policy, research and practices in aged care.
