About Census Dates

DESCRIPTION

This unit supports students' ability to critically appraise attitudes to ageing and aged care in Australia and to engage in independent inquiry and reflection. Students gain an understanding of the lived experiences of elderly people able to live independently or with some community support through conversations, stories and literature. Issues concerning the health and well-being of the aged in Australia are explored through critical insights into contemporary policy, research and practices in aged care.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT:

Written assignments (1600 word essay + 700 word narrative) 30%, online participation in tutorials and related activities 30%, two hour exam 40%.

TEACHING PATTERN: flexible mode with a blend of face-to-face and online lectures supported by asynchronous tutorials and online learning resources.
