This unit will provide an introduction to risk management with particular emphasis on enterprise risk management. Advanced study in risk management issues faced by organisations will be discussed largely as case studies and current events. Attention will be given to the role of managers and the Board of Directors in corporate governance issues. Areas of study will include, and may vary from offering to offering, the broad area of management risk with a focus on internal control systems and the identification of risk management processes, analysis and response to the risk exposure of the firm. Particular emphasise will be on the identification, measurement and evaluation of risk for the firm within the globalised economy. Areas of risk, for example, include environmental, people, financial, operational, political, and regulatory.
