DESCRIPTION

Research Methods seminars introduce students to a range of research methods in the scholarly study of issues in accounting, finance and related disciplines. The seminars are designed to develop research skills so that students are well-equipped to critique confidently and competently academic and professional research in general, and accounting and finance studies in particular. Even more importantly, they provide students with the skills to conduct their own research in a rigorous manner. The material covered includes approaches to theory building, guidelines for developing a research proposal, importance of (and threats to) internal and external validity, research designs for specific projects, research methods appropriate for alternative research design, data collection and data analysis.
