DESCRIPTION

This unit provides students with an introductory level treatment of a wide range of issues related to international trade theory, policy and contemporary global issues. In doing so, it builds on knowledge of both the micro and macro sides of the international economy. It examines a number of theories of international trade and introduces students to the fundamentals of international monetary economics. In addition, a range of institutional, historical and policy issues, including economic integration, protectionism and the East Asian model of development, are explored.

WEIGHT:  12.5%

ASSESSMENT: Internal 40%; final exam 60%
