Course Structure
Candidates must complete the prescribed course work and also conduct a larger project. The multi-disciplinary course work is divided into four units: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Antarctic Operations. The course work is based upon that presented to candidates in the Bachelor of Antarctic Studies with Honours course. Full-time candidates will study two of these units in each semester of their program. The coursework is assessed on the basis of assignments submitted in in each unit.
The project will be supervised by appropriately qualified staff of both the University and other affiliated research organisations, as appropriate. The results of the project will be presented as a reading thesis, which will be assessed by IASOS staff.
In addition, candidates will present an initial and a final seminar on their project. The final seminar will also be formally assessed.
