Course Structure
Each candidate will conduct research and write a thesis. In addition, candidates MAY BE required to study and pass one or more advanced level units and undertake other activities which may include the preparation of literature reviews, essays and grant applications and the presentation of seminars. Students should refer to the School entries in the 'Unit details' section for more information.

Where a candidate is undertaking an Honours program supervised by an Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) staff member they will enrol in the following codes:
- Antarctic Science (KSA430 full time or KSA431 and KSA432 part time)
- Marine Science (KSM420 full time or KSA421 and KSA422 part time)

These honours have a prerequisite of three years in special BSc programs. Students enrol in a separate course, each with its own course code which differs from the BSc(Hons).
