Course Structure

Each candidate will conduct research and write a thesis. The subject of this thesis requires approval from the Degree Coordinator. In addition, candidates MAY BE required to study and pass either advanced level units, or a maximum of 12.5% of undergraduate units with extra assessment requirements, and/or undertake other activities, which may include the preparation of literature reviews, projects, reports, grant applications, position papers and seminars. Students should refer to the School entries in the 'Unit details' section for more information.

To successfully complete the BMarSc(Hons), students must successfully complete one of the following units (1 full time or 2 part time):

  • Marine Science Honours in Aquaculture (KQA417 full time or KQA418 and KQA419 part time);
  • Marine Science Honours in Chemistry (KRA415 full time or KRA416 and KRA417 part time);
  • Marine Science Honours in Geography & Environmental Studies (KGA421 full time or KGA422 and KGA423 part time).
  • Marine Science Honours in Maths & Physics (KMA411 full time or KMA412 and KMA413 part time) or (KYA415 full time or KYA416 and KYA417 part time);
  • Marine Science Honours in Plant Science (KPA412 full time or KPA413 and KPA414 part time);
  • Marine Science Honours in Zoology (KZA410 full time or KZA411 and KZA412 part time);
  • Marine Science Honours supervised by an IMAS staff member (KSM420 full time or KSM421 and KSM422 part time)
