Typically the MCA program would be configured as a three-semester study presented as an integrated submission at the end of the course. Alternatively, the program may comprise three discrete semester projects each having its own aims, objectives and content.
Full time students undertake 3 single semester units, each weighted at 50%. Units are studied sequentially as Professional Practices 1, and Professional Practices 2 and Professional Practices 3 (or the 25% part time alternatives). Alternatively, two Professional Practice units can be taken with a 50% Research Project unit or a 50% Professional Placement Project unit. The Research Project unit, if taken, would normally be as either a semester 2 or a semester 3 option, resulting in an 8,000-word project. Students intending to take the Research Project unit (
FFA753) will audit
HXA404 Research Methods in the Arts (an existing Honours unit) prior to undertaking the unit.
