Specification
Award name and title
1. The award will be called Master of Rehabilitation Counselling with the abbreviation MRehabCouns.
Validity
2. Theses specifications shall take effect on 1 January 2007 and shall apply to all candidates for the award, including those enrolling for the first time in that year and those enrolled subsequently.
Entry
3. Candidates for the Master of Rehabilitation Counselling shall have:
- qualified for admission to a bachelor degree with a major in psychology or behavioural science;
- qualified for admission to a bachelor degree in an area which is associated with human services or counselling; or
- such other qualifications or combination of qualifications which required at least three years of full-time study or its equivalent in a university or other tertiary institution approved by the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology and is considered to be equivalent of the qualifications described in paragraph 3 [i] or [ii] of these specifications.
4. Candidates will be interviewed and may be required to submit a professional statement including professional references, statement of intent, work history and police records check.
5. Candidates for the Master of Rehabilitation Counselling must have completed all units required for the Graduate Diploma of Rehabilitation Counselling.
Requirements and duration
6. To qualify for the Master of Rehabilitation Counselling, a candidate shall pass in 200% of units in accordance with Specification 8.
7. Candidates shall complete the degree requirements in not less than four semesters of full-time study (or its equivalent) and not more than five years from the time of first enrolment.
Structure
8. Candidates shall successfully pass fifteen units, eleven compulsory and four electives, from the prescribed Schedule accompanying these specifications.
Terminating passes
9. No Terminating Passes may be counted towards the requirements of the degree.
General
10. In every case the candidate's choice of units and the order in which they are taken shall be subject to approval by the Dean in accordance with the requirements of Specification 8.
11. Where two or more units of the same name or content are offered within the University, only one may be counted towards the award.
12. The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology may from time to time make amendments to the Schedule to these specifications.
