To qualify for the combined degree, the candidate shall complete 400% from units in Groups 1, 2 and 3 of the BSc and BTeach combined schedules, provided that: |

[i] |
In the Bachelor of Science component, students must complete 212.5% from Schedule A, provided that: |
|
|
(a) |
100% is from units in Group 1; |
|
|
(b) |
At least 75% is from Group 1 units listed in Schedule B, which includes combinations of 25% as determined by three different subject areas (these 25% combinations must be from teaching areas in information technology, mathematics and science); |
|
|
(c) |
62.5% is from units in Group 2; |
|
|
(d) |
At least 50% is from Group 2 units listed in Schedule B, which includes combinations of 25% as determined by two different subject areas (these 25% combinations must be from teaching areas in information technology, mathematics and science); |
|
|
(e) |
50% which consists of full passes from Group 3 units listed in Schedule B, as determined by one subject area, is completed (must come from a teaching area in information technology, mathematics and science); |
|
|
(f) |
candidates shall not include units taught outside the Bachelor of Science degree schedules in the combined degree (i.e. no Group 1A, 2A or 3A units); and |
|
|
(g) |
the candidate may count a maximum of 25% of Terminating Passes in the science component towards the combined degree. |

[ii] |
In the Bachelor of Teaching component, students must complete 187.5% as outlined in Schedule A, provided that: |

(a) |
Students enrol and complete the units appropriate to the Secondary Strand of the Bachelor of Teaching, excluding Multi-literacies 1 and Multi-literacies 2 [ie
ESA104 and ESA204];
|
|
|
(b) |
Students enrol in two Curriculum and Method Studies subjects which must be drawn from: Mathematics: Secondary (ESA113 and ESA213); Science: Secondary (ESA114 and ESA214) and Information Technology: Secondary (ESA111 and ESA211); and |
|
|
(c) |
Students enrol in Multi-literacies 1&2 [ie
ESA104 and ESA204] (Combined degrees).

[iii] |
The units that may be included in a course for the combined degree shall, unless otherwise approved by the respective dean, be in accordance with the schedules of the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Teaching degrees. |

[i] |
Units may be counted towards the degree only if they have been taken in accordance with prerequisites determined by the Faculties of Education and of Science, Engineering & Technology. |
|
[ii] |
Where two or more units of the same name or content are offered within the University, only one may be counted towards the degree. |
|
[iii] |
In every case the candidate's choice of units and the order in which they are taken shall be subject to approval by the respective dean in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 3. |
|
[iv] |
Candidates who transfer from the combined degree to the Bachelor of Science at any time in their candidature must satisfy the requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree as detailed in the specifications for that course. |
