Specification
| 1 |
In these specifications 'Faculty' means the Faculty of Health Science. |
Entry
| 2 |
Candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Biomedical Science with Honours shall have -- |
|
[i] |
qualified for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Biomedical Science from the University of Tasmania; or |
|
[ii] |
qualified for admission to another degree, from either the University of Tasmania or another university, deemed by the Faculty to be equivalent to that degree; |
|
and have satisfied the Faculty that the standard of work achieved in that degree is appropriate for enrolment in the Honours degree. |

Candidates for the degree shall complete the degree requirements, as hereinafter prescribed, in not less than two semesters of full-time study or four consecutive semesters of part-time study, from the time of first enrolment. |
Course structure
| 4 |
The fields of study for honours in Biomedical Science, approved by the Faculty, are listed in the Schedule to these specifications. |
| 5 |
A candidate for the degree must -- |

[i] |
submit a thesis on work, undertaken as part of the honours course, in one of the fields of study listed in the Schedule, on a topic approved by the Head of School; and |
|
[ii] |
undertake such other work and assessments as prescribed by the Faculty, on the recommendation of the Head of School. |

Except by special permission of the Faculty, there shall be no re-examination for honours. |
| 7 |
The classes of honours shall be First Class, Second Class, and Third class. There shall be an upper and lower division in the second class. |
Miscellaneous
| 8 |
The Faculty may from time to time make amendments to the Schedule to these specifications. |
| 9 |
These specifications shall take effect on 1 January 2002. |
| 10 |
The approved abbreviation for the degree of Bachelor of Biomedical Science with Honours shall be BBiomedSc(Hons). |
