A candidate for the degree shall pursue either-- |
|
[i] |
a single course of study in economics; or |
|
[ii] |
a joint course of study in economics and another subject area approved by the Faculty. |

[i] |
A candidate pursuing a single course of study in Economics shall present for examination in four units from a list of units prescribed by the head of the School of Economics and as outlined in Schedule B. |

[ii] |
A candidate pursuing a joint course of study in Economics and another subject area shall present for examination in two units from the list of units referred to in paragraph [i] of this rule and in two units or their equivalent as prescribed by the head of school in charge of the other subject area. |

[iii] |
A candidate shall present a dissertation in a form and of a topic approved by the head of the School of Economics. |
|
[iv] |
A candidate for the degree shall attend any lectures or seminars deemed necessary by the head of the School and shall satisfactorily complete such written work as may be prescribed. |

The honours examination shall be held at a time prescribed by the Faculty. |

Full-time candidates shall take all parts of the examination in the one academic year. The examination shall be divided between two consecutive years in the case of part-time candidates. Provided that the dean, on the advice of the head of school, may grant an extension of time to a candidate who has been prevented by illness or other serious cause from completing the requirements of the course within the prescribed period. |

There shall be no re-examination for honours except by special permission of the Faculty. |
