[i] |
In these specifications Faculty means the Faculty of Commerce. |
|
[ii] |
Candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (Tourism Management) shall be qualified for entry in accordance with the provisions of the University's Rules of Admission. |

Candidates for the degree shall complete the degree requirements, as hereinafter prescribed, in not less than three separate years of full-time study (or its equivalent) and not more than eight years, from the time of first enrolment. |
Course structure

[i] |
To qualify for the degree, the candidate shall pass 24 units comprising: |

(a) |
a specified core of 16 units; |
|
|
(b) |
8 specialised Tourism units. |
|
[ii] |
The units which may be included in a course for the degree shall, unless otherwise approved by the Faculty, be in accordance with Schedule A, and the course structure tables (Schedules B and C, accompanying these specifications. |

[i] |
Units may be counted towards the degree only if they have been taken in accordance with prerequisites determined by the Faculty and as summarised in Schedule A. |

[ii] |
Subject to being able to enrol also in up to two units totalling no more than 25% weighting (2 units) in a summer semester (semester 3) in any year, a candidate normally may not enrol in any year in units totalling more than 100% weighting (8 units), or if the candidate is in full-time employment during any given semester, more than 50% (4 units) weighting. |

[iii] |
Where two or more units of the same name or content are offered within the University, only one may be counted towards the degree. |
|
[iv] |
In every case the candidate's choice of units and the order in which they are taken shall be subject to approval by the Faculty in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 3. |
Credit for previous studies

Passes in subjects or units in other courses (completed or otherwise) in this University or another approved tertiary institution (or other approved professional examining body) may be credited towards the degree, provided that the Faculty may specify what more a candidate so credited shall be required to do to qualify for the degree. Applicants who have completed the Drysdale Institute of TAFE Advanced Diploma of Tourism will be granted credit for fourteen units towards the Bachelor of Business Administration (Tourism Management) degree. Applicants who have completed advanced studies in Tourism to a standard equivalent to that of the Drysdale Institute of' TAFE award will also be considered for credit. |
Miscellaneous

The Faculty may from time to time make amendments to the schedules to these specifications. |

These specifications shall take effect on I November 1998 and shall apply to all candidates for the degree, including those enrolling for the first time in that year and those enrolled subsequently. |
| 8 |
The approved abbreviation for the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (Tourism Management) shall be BBA(TourismMgmt). |
