Introduction
This course specifically aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, competencies and awareness in preparation for employment in agricultural research organisations and businesses as well as for higher degree research.
The course provides an entry point to an Honours degree for students who have completed science-based degrees other than the BAgrSc, and particularly students who have completed the BAppSc(Agr) degree.
Admission & Prerequisites
Entrants to the degree of Bachelor of Applied Science in Agriculture with Honours will have qualified for admission to the BAppSc(Agr) or an appropriate Bachelor degree in Science or equivalent at an approved tertiary institution. Candidates would normally be expected to obtain at least a credit average in their final year undergraduate units.
Candidature will be subject to appropriate supervision being available for the thesis topic approved by the School and subject to satisfying the prerequisites required for the chosen field of study.
Articulation to/from Course
The degree would be the normal articulation pathway for local students who have completed a BAppSc(Agr) degree at the University of Tasmania. The degree is also intended to facilitate articulation from science-based Bachelor degrees attained at other universities in Australasia.
The course can lead to Master's or PhD candidature.
Professional Recognition
Graduates would be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute for Agricultural Science and Technology.
