Introduction

The Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Forestry is based on a sub-set of units from the Master of Forestry program. It has been designed primarily to provide a professional development opportunity for the Tasmanian forestry industry.

Admission & Prerequisites

A bachelor degree in Science, Environment, Resource Management or Agricultural Science with a major in life sciences or equivalent. Students without the stated prerequisites but who have relevant professional experience and/or training may apply to the Faculty to be accepted under the Faculty's policy for the admission of non-graduates to postgraduate coursework programs.

Course Objectives

The Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Forestry meets the needs of people who are seeking to acquire knowledge, or who have some training or workplace experience within the forestry industry and are seeking to improve their knowledge and gain a formal qualification.

Career Outcomes

Employment prospects in the forest industry are excellent. There is a strong demand for professional foresters with employers seeking out graduates with a broad base of knowledge and skills as well as the potential to move into leadership and management roles.

Foresters are responsible for planning, administration, protection and sustainable management of native forests and commercial plantations.
