Semester 2: 9th July 2012 - November 2012
Admission & Prerequisites
Completion of Advanced Diploma of Applied Science (Nautical Science) or an equivalent qualification (such as MasterClass 1 Certificate of Competency).
Students with English as a second language need an IELTS score of at least 6.0
Articulation to/from Course
The articulated structure of this degree incorporates the Diploma of Nautical Science (Deck Watchkeeper) and the Advanced Diploma of Applied Science (Nautical Science). Because seafarer education is regulated to an international standard, students holding STCW95 certificates of competency (as issued by AMSA or an equivalent overseas regulator) will be able to enter deck programmes with full credit for all units up to the level of the certificate of competency held. For example, an applicant with an AMSA Certificate of Deck Watchkeeper will be able to enrol directly into the Advanced Diploma, whilst a certificated Ship Master will be able to enrol directly into the degree.
The Bachelor of Applied Science (Maritime Operations) will articulate directly into the Master of Maritime Studies course as well as other postgrad coursesoffered by the National Centre for Ports and Shipping in the area of Maritime Logistics and Management and Ports and Terminal Management.
Applicants holding an Advanced Diploma or equivalent who are able to demonstrate significant industrial and/or seatime experience such as a Master (unlimited) Cert of Competency and experience in command mayelect to articulate directly into the postgraduate courses referred to above.
The Bachelor of Applied Science ( Maritime Operations) will articulate directly into a number of post graduate courses that are offered by the National Centre for Ports and Shipping in the area of Maritime Studies and Maritime Logistics and Management.
Applicants holding an Advanced Diploma or equivalent who are able to demonstrate significant industrial and/or seatime experience may also elect to articulate directly into the postgraduate courses referred to above.
