Introduction

This coursecomprises of all units in the Diploma of Applied Science (Deck Watchkeeper) course. The course incorporates all the requirements necessary, under the STCW 95 Convention, to attain a Mate or Master Certificate of Competency <500GT, issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

* AMSA oral exam mayneed to be undertaken after this date.

Admission & Prerequisites

  • Sea time approved by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) as outlined in Marine Orders Part 3. See www.amsa.gov.au
  • AMSA approved medical requirements and eyesight test;
  • Students with English as a second language require an IELTS score of at least 5.5.

Career Outcomes

This course provides an international qualification which allows the student to become a senior officer on any deep sea trading vessel of less than 500GT.
